Restaurant review: Aab India Restaurant

It's hard to believe that the restaurant-rich, old Arlington/Grandview area has gone so long without an Indian restaurant in its midst. So when Aab (it means water) India Restaurant announced it was moving into the former Thom's on Grandview spot, it knew it had a leg up by being the only curry game in town. And for that, this slow-to-open, brand-newbie with a strong pedigree (Cincinnati's beloved Ambar) fills an obvious void.

A La Carte: Taj Mahal

It's hard to believe now, but once upon a time, there was not a single Indian restaurant in Columbus. Then, 25 years ago, the Taj Mahal changed all that by getting the local curry and tandoori balls rolling with its grand opening just north of the OSU campus. As a result, many people who do time at Buckeye U wind up learning the ropes of Indian food at this hallmark institution of a family-owned business.

Flaming foods: Indian Oven

Indian Oven might be on the pricey side, but it's quite reliable. Plus it's a hoot eating food with its roots in an ancient cuisine while lounging in an artsy and ultra-modern, post-industrial steel-and-glass space.
